Abstract
Electrical burns received early childhood induce soft tissue damage. If the balance or equilibrium of forces on the dentition is disturbed, it will result dentoalveolar deformity due to altered neuromuscular balance(the relation of tongue and buccinator mechanism). As altered balance, the incisors in this environment moved lingually and crowded severely. It is very rare and hard to experience this kind of patient for orthodontists. We will report the diagnosis, treatment process and changes after active treatment to share our experience. 11 years old boy, who received electrical burns on 6 months old, visited orthodontic clinic. Due to scar on lower lip, there were severe lingoversion and crowding of lower incisors and large overjet. As he had severe microstomia, it was impossible to taking full arch impression and intraoral photos. After extraction of 4 first premolars and labioversion of lower incisors were achieved, good alignment of teeth and satisfactory incisor overjet were obtained. The influence of scar tissue on lip after electrical burns was various according to the site and severity of damage. And dentoalveolar changes were occurred due to the imbalance of tongue lip pressure. Inspite of hard situation, orthodontic treatment will improve the function and appearance of electrical burns patient.
